Russell Mac Lisson, age 98, of Cary, NC passed away peacefully with family at his side October 14, 2023. He was born September 30, 1925, in Rochester, NY to the late Hyman & Dorothy Lisson. Mr. Lisson graduated from Monroe High School in 1943 and promptly enlisted in the US Marine Corps to support the WWII war effort. He was deployed to the South Pacific and served in a replacement battalion on Iwo Jima and as part of the US occupation forces in Nagasaki. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1946 and matriculated to Syracuse University on the GI Bill where he earned a BS in Business.

Mr. Lisson worked in various roles for Bauch & Lomb, both in his hometown of Rochester, NY and Los Angeles, CA throughout the 1950s-1980s. He married Phyllis Jean Walker of Delevan, WI on August 28, 1959, in Los Angeles. They relocated back to Rochester, NY in 1966 where they lived together until relocating to Cary, NC in 2018.

Mr. Lisson was an active volunteer throughout his retirement years in Rochester. He was the President of the Pittsford Library Board and an Ombudsman for several Monroe County nursing homes. Russell was an avid fisherman, stamp collector, and sports fan. He had endless enthusiasm for the Buffalo Bills and Syracuse Orangemen. Russell wore his Western NY roots and Jewish heritage on his sleeve, but he was most proud of his family.

Mr. Lisson was an American patriot, loving husband and father, and all-round wonderful human being. He leaves nothing behind but beautiful memories.

Russell was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Phyllis Walker Lisson. Surviving are his son, Dr. Scott Walker Lisson of Cary, NC; his daughter-in-law, Dr. Gail Lesley Lisson of Cary, NC; his granddaughter, Paige August Lisson of Miami, FL, and his grandson, Jonas William Lisson of Cary, NC.
