Randy Gene Hoyes, of Anderson, SC, died unexpectedly on March 24, 2021.

He was born on February 12, 1950 in South Bend, IN, to William and Martha Hoyes Richey. Randy graduated from Washington High School in 1968 where he was a well-respected varsity athlete playing both football and baseball.

He retired from Jani-King in Raleigh NC in 2013 and was previously employed by GMI in Cary, NC and RACO in South Bend, IN.

Randy leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Carol Fortin Hoyes, as well as his children Theresa (Jim) Jongkind, Claudette Hoyes, Dale (Amy) Hoyes, and Jason (Lindsay) Hoyes and 6 grandchildren Tim and Sammi Brady, Joshua Smith, and Madison, Camden, and Luna Hoyes. Brothers Bill and Fred (Megan) Hoyes also survive.

Randy was a proud Army veteran serving in Vietnam and Korea (1968-1972). He was a dedicated member of the Vets Helping Vets Anderson group where veterans share their struggles and experiences while offering each other unconditional support. Randy’s commitment to this group, its members, and its mission was profound. Randy was a lifelong Notre Dame football and Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed fishing and playing golf, was an amateur photographer, and, above all, loved spending time with his family, friends, and his dog, Cooter Lee.

A funeral service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2021, from The Tribute Room at The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
