Robert John Verdon

March 9, 1940 - September 7, 2020

Robert "Bob" Verdon, 80, returned to his heavenly home on September 7, 2020 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Bob was born to the late Vincent Verdon and Thelma Marx in Binghamton, New York on March 9, 1940. He retired from IBM and was an avid supporter of the VFW in Cary. In his retirement, he was immersed in a community of family and friends that loved and enjoyed life with him.

Bob married Laura Eason Wimmer on September 8, 1995. Laura has two children, daughter Christi Wimmer of Cary and son Jeffrey Wimmer and his wife Layvoyne Toler of Smithfield; and two grandchildren, Carmen and Kayden Wimmer.

Bob is survived by his wife Laura; his sons, Chris Verdon of Cary and Rob Verdon and wife Cindy of Apex; his daughter Connie Haithcock and husband Stuart of Greenville; his grandchildren Matthew Verdon, Amanda Stone, Wiley Haithcock, and Callie McVicker; great grandchildren Wiley James and Parker Haithcock, Michael and Camryn Stone; and his sisters Thelma Buddenhagen, Beverly Tedder, and Ginger Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
